This was created using the tutorial in Chapter 2 of the Derakshani textbook.

MODIFIED ANIMATION

Continuing off of the tutorial animation, there were 3 modifications I made to make this version more unique.

Textures

The first change I made was to add realistic textures to all the different planets, their moons, and finally the sun. All the images I used for the textures were found from free websites (linked below).

Planet / Moon Orbits

The second change I made was to add orbits (all different speeds) to each of the planets and their respective moons. I roughly made calculations based off of their rotation speed and related it to the frame rate. This is why the outer 3~4 planets seem very slow in their orbit around the sun!

Adding a Camera

The last change I made was to add a camera into the animation. While playing around with the features on Maya, I discovered the camera feature and did a few tests. I came up with the final camera animation after doing some research through the Maya documentation/website, referencing a YouTube video for a general tutorial, and just trial and error until I got a result. Below is a link to the tutorial I referenced for starting out with the camera on Maya.
